Positioning of the hands while meditating
When we rest the hands in front of us the tendency is to pull the shoulders subtly forward, contracting the chest area and pulling on the shoulder and back muscles which can cause discomfort. For the opposite effect, wrap a scarf or blanket loosely around your waist and tuck your hands into the front of it. This naturally brings the arms to sit at the sides of your body, gently bringing the shoulders back. Everyone is different so do the right thing for your body to keep it comfortable.
